Sequel had an identity_map plugin from 3.1.0 to 3.48.0. See https://github.com/jeremyevans/sequel/blob/3.48.0/lib/sequel/plugins/identity_map.rb That has some of the code you may be looking for, though it probably needs updating considering the last 5 years of development. If you want my opinion, after creating an identity map plugin and maintaining it for 4 years, I think it's is a bad idea that causes more problems than it solves, which is the reason I removed it.
