I've found the problem. The init_controller1.script file contains a directory location for the backup. The default location is /tmp/backup. This path does work when making the backup on a windows machine, but when restoring it Octopus can't find the files needed (I think). So by changing this path to \tmp\backup the demo will work on windows.
It is funny because my XP laptop works fine with \tmp\backup. Which version of Windows are you using?
