Hi everyone,
I would like to introduce Bristlecone, which is a new project at
www.continuent.org containing tools for performance testing of
database clusters. Bristlecone includes two main tools:
* Evaluator -- Generates mixed loads of select, insert, update,
delete statements on a database or database cluster. You can vary
load using simple configuration file parameters.
* Benchmark -- Runs specific test cases with systematic variation of
parameters.
Bristlecone has basic test cases already built in. In future
releases we will build out the cases to create what I like to call
the "Portable Scale-Out Benchmark". This is a set of easy-to-run
performance benchmarks that you can download, configure, and start to
run with just a few minutes of work. We will also post test results
on a regular basis.
The Bristlecone project web page is http://
bristlecone.continuent.org. The source code is licensed under GPL
V2. Please try the software out and let us know what you think on
the Bristlecone mailing list. Binary and source builds will be made
available by end of the week.
