Tasso,
224.0.0.1 is a reserved multicast address that represents all machines
in a subnet. So this will be equivalent to a broadcast, this is why you
see collisions.
You can check reserved multicast address on IANA web site at
http://www.iana.org/assignments/multicast-addresses.
One thing you might have to do is to add a static route for the
multicast address. I have never tried that with Windows 2003.
Microsoft seems to have specific tools for that:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/fe09af2c-3deb-4c6c-a79f-35c6953a8c9d1033.mspx?mfr=true
You can also ask for support directly on the JGroups mailing list, they
might have users more familiar with a similar setup.
Hope this helps,
Emmanuel
Hey guys I almost have it! :D So far I have been able to test single controller
multiple backends. Now I'm trying multipple controllers. I managed to make the
group communication work through the appia gossip server. But I would rather
setup multicast.
I attempted to run Sequoia in parallel and found out that both nodes could not see each other. I decided to go to the source which is JGroups.
I downloaded the latest version and tried the demos and got the same problem
the nodes could not see each other. I finally figured out that I had to change
the mcast address to 224.0.0.1 on the config samples etc... And everything
started working.
Now here is the problem. I reconfigured Sequoia and fired off the 2 nodes this
time both nodes saw each other but the problem is that all the computers on the
network are registerd to that group address and thus the entire network halted.
I was wondering if there is a way in Windows to setup a multicast group address
only for those 2 servers. I'm using Windows 2003. Wondering if anyone knows of
any good resources.
Thanks
