Hi Stefan,
I saw some commits from Emmanuel Cecchet, does this mean he is (or you
are) back on board of the OpenSource project Sequoia?
That would be really nice :-)
I have plans for new open source developments of Sequoia (easier setup
and management, automatically upgradeable components, ...). I am trying
to figure out how this can be done without interfering with Continuent's
business requirements.
I am considering a refresh of the 3.0 branch (actually the HEAD) by
integrating all fixes that have been done so far in 2.10. As 2.10 is
used by Continuent's product line, I cannot commit at will in that
branch since this would disturb their own developments.
It would also be more in an open source spirit to have the HEAD
including feedback from the community at a faster pace.
The main issue I have right now to go with a 3.0 branch of my own is
that I have no test suite since the Sequoia test suite is right now a
proprietary software owned by Continuent. And just relying on the
community to do the testing is not viable in the long term either. But
if some people want to volunteer to help developing a new test suite,
then maybe we can give it a shot!
So all suggestions are welcome. What does the community really expect?
Cheers,
Emmanuel
