Hi Robert,

This plan looks good to me. Is there any plan to update the current JGroups and Appia wrappers so that they implement the network partition notification callbacks? Could you also clarify the Sequoia 4 vs 2.10 roadmap in the other email thread?

Thanks a lot,
Emmanuel

Hi everyone,

I have created a Hedera 2.0 version in the product roadmap and created a
branch named BRANCH-hedera-2_0 to contain code for this release.

Our plan is for Hedera 2.0 to be a new release of Hedera that includes the
following features:

1.) Updated Jgroups and Appia libraries to put us at the most recent version
of each library.
2.) New unit tests to allow quick verification of group communications
compatibility and performance.
3.) Other features that seem useful such as ensuring delivery of view change
events to handle network partitions better. We have commercial development
that requires this, so we would like to share the basic infrastructure with
the rest of the community.

Hedera 2.0 will *not* support JDK 1.4. This is necessary to allow us to
pick up the latest versions of libraries and to use JDK concurrency classes
for testing.

We will eventually merge this code into CVS HEAD, at which time the default
Hedera implementation will be JDK 1.5 compatible only. However, for the
time being we will ensure that CVS HEAD remains at the Hedera 1.6.x level
and offers JDK 1.4 compatible. Linas Virbalas is moving recently committed
JDK 1.5-only unit test code from CVS HEAD into the new branch.

Cheers, Robert
