A rediscovered video of culture minister Zlatko Hasanbegovic expressing
sympathy for Croatia's WWII Nazi puppet state is yet another embarrassment
for the government, critics said. The video from 2012, which resurfaced in
the media on Tuesday, shows Hasanbegovic giving a speech at a funeral and
referring to the ousting in 1945 of the Nazi Independent State of Croatia,
NDH, as "as our biggest national tragedy and defeat". Critics said that the
rediscovery of the culture minister's speech adds to the embarrassment for
the country's new government after the newspaper Novosti found an article
written by Hasanbegovic in 1996, published in a pro-fascist bulletin, in
which he glorified Croatian fascist units.
