Weekly Review, June 9, 2005 Senator George Voinovich urges Serbian Diaspora to get
involved.
CLEVELAND - A dinner for Senator George
Voinovich was hosted by Alex Machaskee, President and Publisher of the
Cleveland Plain Dealer in Cleveland, OH. Alex Machaskee, brought
together leading Serbian Americans and business leaders together to
discuss the business climate in Serbia and to address political issues
that the Diaspora can address. Senator Voinovich summarized the
importance of the Serbian Diaspora and its role in helping to usher
democracy into Serbia as well as what it can do in the current
situation. Voinovich in particular stressed the importance of the
role Serbian Unity Congress has in getting the Serbian Diaspora’s voice
heard in Washington, DC. In addition, Voinovich advised that the
Serbs should support the SUC and support the efforts that Fr. Irinej
Dobrijevic and Andy Verich have accomplished in Washington.
