First, a bit of a change to the 'footer'--that is, a change in what
we consider fair use:
'CAT 41 Sermons & Devotions' consists of works that are, unless
otherwise
noted, the copyrighted property of the various authors; posting of
such
gives members of this list implied consent for redistribution _with_
_attribution_ unless otherwise specified by the author, as well
as for
quoting or use in a congregational setting
_with_or_without_attribution_.
That is, no one has the right to publish and take credit for your
work, but 'your work' is a gift of God to His Church, and no one
should have to stop every two lines of a sermon to thank publicly
someone whose ideas or phrasing are used to bless the parish he
serves. Cf. <http://scholia.net/sermons.html> If you find this policy
unacceptable, please *do not* publish your sermons on this list.
Second, in many times and at various places, God's people of old
thought that there should be an archive of the sermons posted here
and *offered* to make such an archive, etc. All such archives have
failed. There are ways to do an archive that I don't want to mess
with, so please don't worry about making suggestions...as the
solution we are going with is this one:
<http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/>
Starting with this week's posts, that is where you'll find sermons
from this list archived on the web. In fact, for those who don't want
to receive sermons via email, but want to know when things are posted
to this list so they can see whether they'd like to read a post, you
can even have them subscribe to the RSS feed by going to the Recent
Postings page at <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/
maillist.xml"> and then subscribing to the feed by going to the right
side of the web page and clicking on "Add Bookmark" under the
"Actions" subhead. (All of this is accessible, also, from the CAT 41
web site, on the page that deals with this list...updated today for
the first time in *seven* years! Nice when something 'just works',
ain't it?)
Finally, the "Subscription Accepted" message one receives when
subscribing has also now been updated to include the following
matters of list etiquette, to which you also agree by your continued
posting :-) :
"Please publish only *complete* sermons to the list; do *not* post
comments on the sermons--send them only to the poster of the
sermon...or, if there is an issue of false doctrine, to the poster
and to the list administrator.
"Your subject line should be formatted as follows: Sermon Text, Day
of the Church Year, Pericopal System Used...thus: 'St. Matthew
2:1-12, Epiphany, Historic' would be a proper subject line. Your
name, sermon title, and so on, should *not* be in the subject line.
"If you are posting your sermon to more than one email list--or to
our list and to individuals--please use BLIND Carbon Copy; that helps
prevent 'spam' and other abuse."
I hope that these changes will help things proceed in an orderly and
edifying fashion.

Lutheranism is *not* "a confessing movement within the Church
catholic";
it is *the* confessional movement *of* the Church catholic.
