After the branch merge, if we can use Merlin, I would +1 switching to
the log4j plugin for James.

Everyone!
Due to high-demand among users we have now implemented the Log4J plugin for
Avalon Logging, the new enhanced logging system.
It is scheduled to be released in conjunction with the upcoming release of
Merlin 3.3.
We are still working on some gritty details on how Merlin is to use the Avalon
Logging subsystem, and we will announce that as soon as we get that far.
