Is there a guide for the release process? Does releasing need special permissions or any committer can do that? > But the point of the comment you quoted is that > we should be basing release on something stable and tested, > not trying to cut a release from a rapidly moving target. If you were confortable with the stability of the code 2 weeks ago I can branch THAT code. Stability of the repository is different from stability of the running code. James 2.2.0 has known bugs that are solved in the current trunk. Until someone prove it to be different I think that current trunk has less bug than James 2.2.0. And to prove this we need to do an alpha/beta release as soon as possible.
