Hi All,

Over at JBoss Mail Server (http://jboss.org/products/mailservices), we're knee deep in IMAP and have gotten it working well enough for ThunderBird with a few glitches (we're still at an early stage and of course Mail.app for instance, goes insane shortly after connecting but this first release is mainly interested in T-Bird anyhow). In order to do this I found the JAMES IMAP test framework scripts increadibly useful especially where the spec was really vague. (http://cvs.apache.org/viewcvs.cgi/james/server/tags/pre-v2and3-merger-trunk/proposals/imap2/test)

However as it stands these appear to no longer be part of the regular JAMES source tree. While I understand that the IMAP proposals are essentially dead for whatever reason, I think that the tests themselves are at least salvageable. I would like to suggest moving the test back into the main source tree (somewhere) for that day that JAMES decides to tackle IMAP again. Which I hope it does, its lonely not having much of an active competition in this area (though at least that is sorta heating up) which I always find helpful though I realize that is a unique viewpoint. On that note, I'd like to point you to an ANTLR grammar for IMAP under a BSDish license: http://www.epostmail.org/code.html#source -- its not complete but its a great start (even if the developers aren't very friendly: http://linuxintegrators.com/acoliver/code/2006/04/05/x-0219.html)!

Thanks,
