Joachim Draeger updated JAMES-502:
----------------------------------

    Attachment: james-imap2-proposal-extended1.zip

2006-05-19

I extendet imap2 proposal originaly taken from
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/james/server/branches/imap-dev/proposals/imap2/java
Somewhere at r168333

It depends on

 - commons-logging-api.jar (?)
 - log4j-1.2.9.jar (I tried out chainsaw log4j gui)
 - javamaildir-0.6.2
 - java-maildir-0.6.2-UIDPlusFolder.patch
 - James trunk r407606

You have to create that folders in dist.

My code is quite a hack and quick'n'dirty at the moment. You might even
find german comments or System.out.println. I decided to publish this snapshot
because I don't know when I will have time to clean it up and I want to enable
people to look at it and participate.
Until there is a bit stability the only supported client is

 - Thunderbird 1.5

At the moment the following works

 - storing messages received by James
 - storing, retrieving, deleting messages
 - change flags
 - access the trash folder
 - accessing existing Folders should be possible

Creating folders is not far away. :-) There are error messages by Thunderbird
and you have sometimes to restart the client to see changes.
So far that are all problems that are caused of my unfinished implementation of
the javamailstore backend.

> James needs a working IMAP implementations. This is just a container for the
> IMAP efforts and updates.
> Many times in the list people ask the current status, the missing steps, and
> more. We should add subtasks to this issue to clear up things.
> If you're willing to help with IMAP support for James please read mailing
> list archives and this issue history and discuss in the list what you're
> willing to do.
> I (Stefano) will be happy to help for everything related the James/Avalon
> integration and the correct service interactions, but I don't know anything
> about the IMAP protocol itself.
