About http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-432
I thought we should at least merge the xdocs folder in the trunk,
reorganize it and merge something back to the 2.3 branch.
I don't know how much I will do about docs, but I would start
reintegrating the src/xdocs folder in the trunk.
In the meantime I would like to bring back also few testcases from that
branch.
Any objection?
If I understand it correctly the current website is no more generated by
that sources: it has been generated until the end of 2004, then we
changed directly the resulting html in the "site" repository. Am I right?
Most docs have a 2_1 suffix, only few 2_2, none 2_3. I don't like too
much the suffix solution to documentation versioning. My proposal would
be to remove the version name from the filenames and eventually backup
old versions in subfolders. The last generate site should document the
last official release.
I'd like we reach a consensus on what to do so I can updated the
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-432 issue and if anyone is
willing to do something about docs will have a guideline!

PS: IIRC I read Noel being contrary to maven generated sites. Is this a
general consensus of James committer? Can you elaborate on this?
I tend to like maven generated sites because:
1) They are similar each other, and I feel "at home" when I look at a
new project
2) They are more easy to mantain
3) They, most times, provides much more informations than manually
created websites (dependencies, code coverage)
