Noel J. Bergman updated JAMES-576:
----------------------------------
Fix Version/s: 3.0
(was: 2.2.0)
We ought to be able to fix this in the next release after v2.3, i.e., v2.4 or
v3.
My suggestion is that we add a SuppressDuplicateRCPT command handler attached
to the RCPT chain.
> Mails with Duplicate Mail Address in To / CC

> Components: SMTPServer
> Affects Versions: 2.2.0
> Environment: Windows XP Professional
> James 2.2.0
> JDK 1.4.2_08

> Priority: Minor

> In case a mail's TO and / or CC address contains duplicates of same mail ids
> like
> To : [EMAIL PROTECTED],[EMAIL PROTECTED]
> CC : [EMAIL PROTECTED]
> , James sends multiple copies of the same mail to the same addresse. (In this
> case [EMAIL PROTECTED] receives 3 copies)
> Does this represent the correct behaviour as per the MIME specs (RFC 2045,
> RFC 2046, and RFC 2047) ? OR should the smtp server send only 1 mail to
> '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'. On referring other mail servers(with their mail
> Clients), this is not the case ? If duplicate mails are not to be send, is
> this the responsibility of a mail client or the mail server ?
> Thanks & Kind Regards,
> Govind Kumar
