compiles bytecode to native, the "rules" for what it compiles are more complex for -server and it can be invoked well into a long run, not just at the start. Those later optimisations are sometimes more buggy.
my failure only happens with load not under standard operation. JAMES totally maxes out my box during processing the mail then fails towards the end of the process.
