If we are unable to make releases a full rewrite will not fix this issue. (I'm not against a full rewrite, I just think it won't fix our main issues)

IMHO the fact that some code is in the JAMES repository since 7 years does not make it more stable compared to newer code. We don't have a big userbase, so we can't make this assumption. We often found critical bugs that was there since the first release of JAMES and no one reported it in years (but this is not important compared to the issue above).
