Folks

I took a look at the mime4j packages generated by the assembly plugin and they all looked quite good to me. It appears release preparations should not take that much work and time. There is only one major piece that seems to be missing, though. I could not find release notes / changelog anywhere. In the HC project we maintain a simple plain-text file for release notes and the changelog that gets shipped with both binary and source distributions and is
also available from the download page

http://www.apache.org/dist/httpcomponents/httpcore/RELEASE_NOTES.txt
http://www.apache.org/dist/httpcomponents/httpclient/RELEASE_NOTES.txt

Would something similar make sense for mime4j or should the change log
available in JIRA be sufficient?

Change log would be sufficient but release notes would be great :-)

i'm willing to lend a hand writing them

I'll happily prepare a draft version, but I would really appreciate if you could proof-read my Ruslish afterwards.

For JAMES Server we simply use the JIRA release notes:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/ReleaseNote.jspa?projectId=12310521&styleName=Html&version=12312483

Here is my hint...

  main new features
Write message capability
New pull parser API
OSGi enabled jar

  main improvements
Increased performance (10x on large messages)
Dependencies cut (the only dependency is now commons-logging)
Package refactoring (if we include MIME4J-51)

  fixed bugs
I suspect most of the bugs we have in the above roadmap have been introduced and solved in this release cycle, so they are no bug fixes wrt 0.3 release. Maybe someone else have better knowledge on this (or maybe we can simply list the JIRAs and forget about it).

Thank you,
Stefano
