I can not install lotus note on my linux, sorry.
You already gave us the client message, true. But this tells us not much...
To change log level, read http://james.apache.org/server/3/monitor-logging.html
You have to change
log4j.logger.james.imapserver=INFO, IMAPSERVER
with
log4j.logger.james.imapserver=DEBUG, IMAPSERVER
