Hi Abel,
I just tested with 3.0-beta3 and the exact domain/user you gave:
./james-cli.sh -h localhost -p 9999 adddomain localhost
./james-cli.sh -h localhost -p 9999 adduser admin@localhost adm
I can connect from thunderbird with an account having "admin@localhost" as
username.
Can you recheck, and send us anyt stacktrace you see in ./log/james-server.log ?
