Welcome and congrats to both! Apart from maintaining a closed contact with your mentor and draw up a schedule, here are some steps you can consider.
1.- Start creating a project in the apache-extras site http://code.google.com/a/apache-extras.org/hosting. 2.- Make a first commit with the stuff you need from the james project 3.- Play with the code: fix everything you need before starting your changes 4.- Get experience writing notes, catching and facing bugs and testing. 5.- Use jira to report bugs in the James trunk or to send patches you consider necessaries to your work. 6.- Use issues app in apache-extras to track bugs and features in your project. 7.- Commit as frequently as you can and make good comments so as your mentor keep informed of your progress 8.- Don't forget to write unit tests 9.- Participate in the developers mailing list, and don't hesitate to ask any question Happy coding ! - Manolo On Wed, Apr 25, 2012 at 2:52 PM, echo <echo...@gmail.com> wrote: > All right ;-p > > Thank you very much for the introduction.
