David Leangen commented on JAMES-3217:
--------------------------------------
> > I think we should remove glowroot from this version.
> Does glowroot make anything harder to setup?
The thought behind the "Basic Server" is that it should be as minimalistic as
possible. If we define "interface" as any file that is exposed or used by the
user, then the user should not look at any part of the interface and wonder
what it is about. There should be as few "new" concepts or cognitive load as
possible. The fewer the concepts, the easier it is to adopt James.
Once people have used the Basic Server and are more comfortable, they may want
to start to gradually include more features. That is where the "Advanced"
server comes into play. This will require more support by the community.
By making the Basic Server extremely minimalistic, it should hopefully reduce
the support required by the community. It would be reasonable to tell
"Advanced" users that they are on their own. "Basic" users will want to feel a
bit more secure knowing that the community has its back, so we need to reduce
any and all changes of people having to ask questions.
So the direct answer to your question is "no". However, when I look at the
file, I wonder WTF is that? And it creates an incremental cognitive load and
perhaps for some a small increment of additional and unnecessary stress.
