Benoit Tellier commented on JAMES-3939:
---------------------------------------
Hello. No James do not yet support IDN.
Contributions are welcome on this, if you are interested.
If exposing this extension we might want to ensure:
- Those emails can be read in an IMAP4 compliant way
- Those emails can well be relayed to third party MXes. And what happens with
/ without SMTPUTF8 support.
> Apache James server UTF8/IDN support
> ------------------------------------
>
> Key: JAMES-3939
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-3939
> Project: James Server
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: configuration
> Affects Versions: 3.7.3
> Reporter: Evgeny Agronsky
> Priority: Major
>
> I'm running Postfix MTA with content filter based on Apache James, whenever
> Postfix relays a mail to the content-filter, for example with *{{From}}*
> field containing UTF8 characters, it fails to deliver the mail to Apache
> James with error:
>
> {code:java}
> SMTPUTF8 is required, but was not offered by host{code}
>
> Postfix for example declares UTF8 support in it's documentation and is able
> to handle the message.
> Unfortunately I could not find any documentation whatsoever on how to enable
> SMTPUTF8 support on James, so I'm not sure if it's supported/unsupported/bug.
> Does James support IDN?
