Hi! I think that the reference list for USB adapter compatibility was at http://wiki.laptop.org/go/USB_ethernet_adaptors , but it's probably not very up-to-date.
I've also had luck with a really cheap adapter bought locally, it doesn't even has a visible brand, but identifies itself on dmesg as Davicom DM9601 USB Ethernet. Regards and happy hacking!
