As I mentioned in another reply, check both the Netscape and James logs.

I would try from both Windows and linux clients. It would be really odd for
telnet to do the hangup, but I actually had an SSH client crash on me
yesterday when running tar. If James is getting an exception, we ought to
be logging it.
