Well, I have the authorization setted on, and using Outlook Express on XP to
send email, and the flag 'My server requires authentication' must be set to
true if I want to send emails.

Subject: Question Concerning User Authentication

Hello,

I am trying to use User Authentication to prevent an Open Relay and hoped
that I can get advice on how to set it up.

Currently, I the standard config.xml for James 2.2.0a8 and I have the
following two lines uncommented.

<authRequired>true</authRequired>

<verifyIdentity>true</verifyIdentity>

Since I want my users to be able to connect from home, I have the following
line commented out.

<!--

<authorizedAddresses>64.190.141.*</authorizedAddresses>

-->

First, is there any other settings that I need to know about to secure my
e-mail users using User Authentication?

Second, in my personal tests using a Outlook 2000 client, I can not send an
email if the box for User Authentication is unchecked. However, an employee
using Outlook XP is able to send mail weither or not the box for User
Authentication is checked.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks,

Hut
