Hello
My James mail server is not accepting incoming connections anymore.
It says in the log file:
21/08/03 11:42:15 WARN connections : Maximum number of open
connections exceeded - refusing connection. Current number of connections
is 30
It has been saying this for quite some time now, about 10 hrs.
I am running this instance of James as a test server on a red hat box. It is
subscribed to the gcc mailing list.
According to netstat there are 31 open connections to sources.redhat.com in
CLOSE_WAIT mode.
I am a bit in the dark on who to blame. Is the mailing list behaving badly
(there is high virus activity these days), should I just wait for James to
tidy up the connections or is there a bug in James?
I would greatly appreciate a tip on how to prevent this problem in the
future.
Thanks!
Hes Siemelink.
