The purpose for such a database is to embed it, so that it is part and
parcel with the rest of the code. It isn't expected to be the best; it is
expect to be present. I, for example, would not use it. I would continue
to use MySQL. Nor would I expect anyone already running a database server
to use the embedded one. The people who would benefit from an embedded JDBC
server would be those people currently using the file system.
As for questions related to Axion, the best people to ask would be them,
however from their documentation: "Currently Axion only runs as an
in-process database. The database engine classes are executed in the same VM
as your client code."
