Hi, I know I'm running an older version of James (james-2.2.0a4), but I've not seen this problem mentioned before.
I've got a Clie PEG-UX50 connecting to my WiFi network. I'm trying to send email from it via Clie Mail. I have configured it correctly as far as I can tell (there really isn't much to set for an email client), but I keep getting a SMTP Authentication Failed (535). Here's a snippet from the SMTP Log with DEBUG on: For the Clie session: 06/01/04 07:12:25 DEBUG smtpserver: Command received: EHLO 192.168.200.46 06/01/04 07:12:25 DEBUG smtpserver: Sent: 250-mail.intfar.com Hello 192.168.200.46 (intfar.com [66.92.129.218]) 06/01/04 07:12:25 DEBUG smtpserver: Sent: 250-AUTH LOGIN PLAIN 06/01/04 07:12:25 DEBUG smtpserver: Sent: 250 AUTH=LOGIN PLAIN 06/01/04 07:12:25 DEBUG smtpserver: Calling reset() default Worker #16 06/01/04 07:12:25 DEBUG smtpserver: Command received: AUTH PLAIN Y21lYW5zAGNtZWFucwBaYXBob2Q= 06/01/04 07:12:25 DEBUG smtpserver: Sent: 535 Authentication Failed 06/01/04 07:12:25 ERROR smtpserver: AUTH method PLAIN failed 06/01/04 07:12:25 DEBUG smtpserver: Calling reset() default Worker #16 For my Outlook 2003 session (which works fine): 06/01/04 07:18:06 DEBUG smtpserver: Command received: EHLO ENGINEERING 06/01/04 07:18:06 DEBUG smtpserver: Sent: 250-mail.intfar.com Hello ENGINEERING (intfar.com [66.92.129.218]) 06/01/04 07:18:06 DEBUG smtpserver: Sent: 250-AUTH LOGIN PLAIN 06/01/04 07:18:06 DEBUG smtpserver: Sent: 250 AUTH=LOGIN PLAIN 06/01/04 07:18:06 DEBUG smtpserver: Calling reset() default Worker #16 06/01/04 07:18:06 DEBUG smtpserver: Command received: AUTH LOGIN 06/01/04 07:18:06 DEBUG smtpserver: Sent: 334 VXNlcm5hbWU6 06/01/04 07:18:06 DEBUG smtpserver: Sent: 334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6 06/01/04 07:18:06 DEBUG smtpserver: AUTH method LOGIN succeeded 06/01/04 07:18:06 DEBUG smtpserver: Sent: 235 Authentication Successful 06/01/04 07:18:06 DEBUG smtpserver: Calling reset() default Worker #16 Is the Clie Mail application not sending the Authetication properly? Or do I have something misconfigured?
