1. Do I have to create a user account in James for every local account
on the machine? Including postmaster?

Yes

2. Is there any way to get James to deliver to the sendmail spool or
does it always go to its own local repository?

Better to just use James.

James and sendmail aren't supposed to work together, but it is more
convenient to let sendmail generate outgoing mail than replace "mail" on
linux systems where "mail" and even "/usr/sbin/sendmail" commands are
invoked by shell scripts and commands.

Therefore we have provided a brusque doc outlining how to funnel all this
outgoing mail through James.

There's no provision for doing the reverse, and to do so is very likely to
introduce loops.

Perhaps the best thing to do would be to use the mbox James repository for
inboxes, users could choose to either use POP3 or to read the mbox itself.
