Been thinking about this. I think that the only way to tell is to have a matcher to check if the message was put in via an authenticated smtp session.
If a valid user sends a message to an external address then it should be accpeted. If a valid user sends a message to an internal address then it should be accepted. If an unrecognised user sends a message to an external user then it should be dropped. If an unrecognised user sends a message to an internal user then it should be chekched against the spam filters. 1. is there a matcher to check for an 'authenticated' smtp session? (i couldnt see on in the docs) 2. If a local user sends a message to a local recipient, they dont have to authenticate themselves, so it is feasible that a dialup user accesses the server, sends an email to a local recipient without authentication. Does anyone know the behavious of outlook/etc with regards to this? (ie. if the box is ticked to authenticate in outlook, will it always authenticate, or only when it is asked?) I think for now i will just have to turn off the njabl checks. Yes the filters are "mailets" and are invoked using "matchers" RTM. d. *************************************************************************** The information in this e-mail is confidential and for use by the addressee(s) only.
