I see my e-mail account no different than my telephone account. I pay for both and it's used as a way to reach to myself. If I answer my phone and it's to sell me stuff, I have laws and technology (answering machine)that prevent this from happening.
With e-mail I'm a bit more limited. The technology doesn't help and the laws are useless. -----Original Message----- From: Serge Knystautas [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, July 12, 2004 8:54 AM To: James Users List Subject: Re: UN against spam [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: >>>wrong track. Since my question, I found what I consider a great definition of spam from spamhaus (http://www.spamhaus.org/definition.html) ================== An electronic message is "spam" IF: (1) the recipient's personal identity and context are irrelevant because the message is equally applicable to many other potential recipients; AND (2) the recipient has not verifiably granted deliberate, explicit, and still-revocable permission for it to be sent; AND (3) the transmission and reception of the message appears to the recipient to give a disproportionate benefit to the sender. ================== -- Serge Knystautas Lokitech >> software . strategy . design >> http://www.lokitech.com p. 301.656.5501 e.
