Many thanks, Noel and Hes. The FromRepository mailet worked fine, except for one thing: It didn't delete the files in the repository even though I set the <delete> tag to true. Having looked into the source code, I see no reason why it shoudn't work as advertised. ????

That's a useful mailet!
Not to be a nuisance or anything, I'm afraid the FromRepository mailet is not mentioned in the documentaion on the james.apache.org web site.
I usually check http://james.apache.org/provided_mailets_2_1.html or http://james.apache.org/javadocs/org/apache/james/transport/mailets/package-summary.html to know what mailets are available -- FromRepository is not included there.
Just to let you know...
Cheers,
Hes.

My question is: How do I recover these messages?
I would move them to a new directory under var/mail and then use the FromRepository mailet to respool them.
