The purpose of SMTP AUTH is generally used to authorize relaying.  Few mail
servers support RFC 2554 Section 5 because MAIL FROM <...> AUTH= is only
effective in a trusted environment.  MUAs should not be using the
destination domain's mail server, and are thus not able to authenticate
directly.
