Hi Rhys,
I adopted the RemoteDeliveryX.java which was posted some time ago to this list. I stripped away the SSL stuff, which was dependent on another library and did not compile. So it works for me very well, I am havin a Gateway which requires SMTP-Auth.
I could pass you the jar-file with some rough installation guide if you are interested. The original author wanted to clean it up and submit it. But I think that never happend.
Let me know if you are interested in my hack.

Dear All,
I have posted before, and really would like to implement SMTP authentication. I have installed James 2.2.0. I read a few posts in both the users and developers lists about this feature, and possible ways to implement it. However, I am not an experienced Java programmer/user, and would like guidance, if possible, on implementing this feature. Is it possible? Do I need to apply a patch, or install a later version of James, such as a snapshot?
Any help welcome,
Rhys Hardwick
