We are having a problem with Thunderbird 1.0 retrieving new mail from James.
Have James 2.2.1-RC 1 on a Windows XP server to collect all mail into and out of the office. We have three client computers on the LAN using James as a gateway to send and retrieve mail. We have James copy each mail to a "Company" mailbox before processing for remote or local delivery, and then the mail goes to separate mailboxes for each of our three email accounts. We are using file repositories. The client computers each use Microsoft Outlook to send and retrieve messages through James, retrieving mail from the three non-Company mailboxes. Works well, no problems. Thunderbird 1.0 is installed on the server to retrieve emails from the "Company" mailbox for filtering and archival purposes. It is set up to retrieve all new messages from the Company mailbox on startup and to automatically download new messages every 10 minutes. We would like to use Thunderbird on the client computers as well. The problem is that Thunderbird will not retrieve mail placed in the Company mailbox after James has started up. We get "no new mail messages on server", yet we know and verify that new email is in the Company mailbox. If we shutdown and restart James, then Thunderbird will retrieve the mail. Sometimes we can retrieve mail without restarting James, but there is an unacceptable delay between receipt and retrieval (often hours or even a day). Same behavior if I try Thunderbird on the client machines to collect the other email accounts.
