Hello Everyone

i am attempting to setup JAMES as an SMTP/POP3 server on my machine and i am
running into obsatcles

The first question i have is am i using the correct product? I am looking for
a product that will manage emails to and from a host.. for instance SMTP and
POP3 requests from mail.myDomain.com .. I believe thats what JAMES is but i
could be wrong.. It seems as if the process is get the configuration right,
setup the users and than configure your email client as if it was any other
mailserver.. and everything should work.. Am i correct in presuming this?

With that said i am running into some issues..

I am running Windows 2000 utilizing NO-IP's plus service to give me DNS service
to and from my machine..if i go out to www.dnsreport.com and type in my mail
server (in this case mail.daveturner.info)
it returns what i believe to be good information.. returns the associated IP
Address.. tells me i got an MX Name..etc.. but if i type in a user that i
succesfully created on my machine it states the following messages

"Could not connect: Got an unknown RCPT TO response: 550 - Requested action
not taken: relaying denied" AS WELL as the mailserver information so i believe
the server is OK but theres something straneg about the users.

I set up the user by the documented method of telneting to the server at port
4555 and running the adduser command.. That seems to have worked succesfully
because there is a folder at var/mail/inboxes for the user name.

is there a common step that i missed... The mail server seems to be good but
theres an issue with the users?

any help on this issue would be appreciated

thanks,
Dave
