Jeremy: LOL! Where is this? I'll bring some dip ;-) (/end funny) On a serious note, nurularesya, maybe you should read some more information on spam honeypots before you start building one of your own. It sounds like you would benefit from some background information. A honeypot, while simple in design, has 1000 small details that need to be addressed before you start getting really useful information. If you want to stick with the spam honeypot idea, here are some webpages that provide extra information: 1. Building a SPAM Honeypot with Jakarta James Open Source Mail Server: http://oreillynet.com/pub/wlg/2842 2. Honeypot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeypot 3. Tarpits and Honeypots: http://spamlinks.net/track-trace-honeypot.htm (More useful links at this page) 4. Spam Archive: http://schnarff.com/honeypot.html And by the way, make sure you can get access to a server facing the Internet for honeypot hosting, WITHOUT ANYTHING (firewall, proxy, etc) between the Internet and the server. This is very important, so I'm putting it in CAPS! If you're just going to plug a server into a University network, chances are good there's a proxy between you and the Wild Wild Internet, so make sure you get an appointment with the technical people at your college and ask for permission to link DIRECTLY TO THE OUTSIDE NET!
