This is not true. Our RemoteDelivery mailet will see that there is no
"some-unavailable-host.com" or the MX associated to that domain are
permanently not available and will bounce back the message to the sender.
This is already done by RemoteDelivery: you can also configure a
bounceProcessor in RemoteDelivery and use the DSNBounce mailet if you
prefer to customize the bounce.
all i want to do is, to ping the server and see if the server is available
or not. if unavailable, the error msg will be sent to the sender
immediately
heop this clears up a lot :)
I don't understand what do you mean with ping the server? Do you want to
use a real ping? This is plain wrong. Many servers could reject ICMP
packets while accepting the SMTP connections. And you would have to
check the MX servers and not the domain.
