I downloaded the binary james-2.3.0 and unzipped into
c:\java\james-2.3.0

I am running on Windows XP Pro
I have JAVA_HOME pointing to C:\j2sdk1.4.2_12

I went to /bin and executed run.bat from a command prompt

Here are the first few lines in the phoenix.log

WARN 2006-11-03 07:46:49.329 [Phoenix ] (): Phoenix was not started by the
daemon thus it will not be possible to restart the JVM via the Management
interface.
INFO 2006-11-03 07:46:49.532 [Phoenix.] (): Installing Sar located at
file:/C:/Java/james-2.3.0/apps/james.sar.
WARN 2006-11-03 07:46:49.829 [Phoenix.] (): The file conf/sqlResources.xml
can not be extracted from the Sar "file:/C:/Java/james-2.3.0/apps/james.sar"
into directory C:\Java\james-2.3.0\apps\james\conf\sqlResources.xml because
there is a file in the way.
WARN 2006-11-03 07:46:49.829 [Phoenix.] (): The file
conf/james-fetchmail.xml can not be extracted from the Sar

So I dounloaded the sources with Avalon Phoenix and did a successful build and
started from that....no change in the logs at all that I can see.

I did a google of the subject to this and re-read the documentation on
installing, quick start, etc.

I verified the xerces.jar was not in any /lib/ under /james-2.3.0

now what?
