Thanks Stefano, that solved it. There were two nnnnnnn.Repository.FileObjectStore files with the bounce user in it. One had a longer nnnnnnn string at the beginning and its create date was from when I first installed James. I deleted that file, then telnetted in again, and this time was able to delete the bounce user. When I checked the directory again, the other file for the bounce user had been deleted as well. Much appreciated!
