The problem is James not able to resolve, so it seems a DNS issue.
Can you check your dnsservice log ? The head of that logfile should show
you what James is using as its DNS servers to lookup names.
Can you check that the machine where you installed James is able to
resolve domain names?
Otherwise you could try to use the IP address of your gateway instead of
the name.
Otherwise you should check the hostname you used as gateway in the
RemoteDelivery configuration: that hostname must be correct and working.
(from James machine a "telnet <what_you_wrote_in_gateway> 25" should
connect and welcome you.
