Revers lookup is done instantly. What do you mean by DNS configuration
issue? DNS is set to autodetection and seems to work well...
I thought it might be related to jvm DNS caching. I set
-Dsun.net.inetaddr.ttl=10 but that didn't work either. What else to check?
Thanks,
Michael

Yes, it is probably related to reverse DNS lookups.
Check if your server is able to lookup the reverse dns for the
connecting client or if you have DNS configuration issues.

Hi,
I'm running the latest version and since some time ago I have very slow
pop3 and smtp (at times) connections.
I set the logs to "DEBUG" and found that it takes quite a while for the
pophandler to setup the connection
(whatever that means). Could this be related to Reverse DNS?
01/06/07 16:11:35 DEBUG connections: Starting connection on
88.198.21.202:110 from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
01/06/07 16:11:35 DEBUG pop3server: Retrieving a
org.apache.james.pop3server.POP3Handler from the pool
01/06/07 16:12:04 INFO pop3server: Connection from xxxxxx
(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)
(hosts and domains crossed out)
Help appreciated,
Michael
