Thanks for the info. But I'm still a little confused. If the
standalone version will not work with current James and this SPF module
will be included in a future James release, what is the purpose/use of
the standalone version that was just announced? I would love to somehow
get the SPF function implemented in my server. But from what I
understand you saying, my only choice is to wait for James 3.0, whenever
it is released (are we talking months or a year?). If so, who would
use the standalone version of SPF?

James Server 2.3.1 does not support jSPF.
In the current development version of James Server (3.0) we already
integrated SPF support (via jSPF) in the SMTPServer component as a
pluggable handler and it will be part of the main distribution once
we'll release it.
There is no ETA for James Server 3.0, sorry.
