No.
From my side, you can safely upgrade to JDK 1.6.
so to understand what kind of impact would have dropping support for
that JVM and require Java 5 in the next release.
There are no current plan for a release
I think the missing of a JAMES release has the biggest impact on your
user base, not the JDK :) (users can always run multiple JDKs on the
same computer).
