Do you test the telnet from the same machine running james? Can you show the headers from the mail received from gmail? (just alter them to "cripple" sensitive data but don't remove anything) And: what James Server version are you using? if it is an old one, did you ever restarted James after you changed the MX servers for your google apps domain?
