As a user, I don't "feel" James slow.
The out-of-the-box params should be fine for a normal usage.
(did you check via telnet ? do the defined hostnames correctly resolve ?)
There are quite some changes around in IMAP atm, this MAY impact (I
don't say it does :)
We could also say that the default embedded derby is not the fastest
database in the world, but for low volumes, this does not make any
difference IMHO.
It would be good to have measures:
- http://imapwiki.org/ImapTest is a possible tool.
- We've got pure functional mailbox-integration-tests, but nothing on
performance. I created the MPT-3 (Write MPT JMeter Plugin) but it needs
to invest time in first consolidate the Apache James MPT project and
then develop that jMeter plugin.
