This is indeed a Post Installation BPEL Learning Guide for Oracle
Suite; it is deep and wide, and may be quite useful for developers.
I have a few questions to James:
1) from your experience,
a) how useful it is?
Ans: Not much, Unless you are a big organization having huge dynamic
business and organizing the IT system itself is a challenge for
management. Also it would be useful if the organization has already
invested a lot on existing IT system and wants to re-use most of it
with out reinventing the IT wheel,
Traditional shopping cart / product profile display web sites need not
use SOA at all. Plane and simple PHP/JSP would still be a good choice.
b) how productive the code generated by the tool?
Ans: It saves years of code writing by Programmers, for example it
takes few seconds to generate a web service proxy client consisting of
8 to 10 Java/XML files using tool, think of the same when developers
start writing it on their favourite Java Editor deploying and testing
and de-bugging it might take days even for good programmers, good
bless fresher 's when they take up such challenges.
c) how easy to change previously create process?
Ans: Not always easier, there is a scope of improvement in some of the
SOA products in this scenario.
d) does the Oracle run-time environment where the generated
BPML script runs allows for integration (invocation of other systems)
via other means than Web Services ( SOAP or REST )?
Ans: yes, check out at their web site for details pls.
e) should this tool to be used in IT or in business, by a
technical or business person?
Ans: Business Person who has good technical knowledge on SOA or IT
person who has good business requirements such as Business Drivers/ IT
Drivers etc can be the right person to use the tool. Both can use it
just they need to enhance some of their skillsets or work in closely
with teams.
f) does this tool require any pre-conditions from invoked Web
Services ( SOAP or REST )?
Ans: I don't think so, it depends up on the web service itself, there
can be security constraints on web services imposed by the developer
I think, answers to these or similar questions may lead to an article.
2) what does mean a fire on the pages? Is it a/your soul on a fire? :-)
Ans: I started this website
http://www.geocities.com/james_smith73/index.html which later grew
into a Java User Group of over 800 members as of now, fire symbol
means light at the end of tunnel, or it also represents "JYOTI" a
Sanskrit word which means Spreading Light of Knowledge ;-)
cheers
James
