Summary:

  The recent fix of https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8223736 introduced another issue.   Now, there is a whole in synchronization in updating the static field 'lastEnterEventsCount'

   in the method run().

  Additionally, this update does a cleanup of the commented out debugging code.

   Thanks a lot to Alex for filing this new bug and it's analysis!
