Unable to start due to missing lib/optional directory

Installing as per directions in
http://incubator.apache.org/servicemix/getting-started.html#GettingStarted-StartingServiceMix
When starting the servicemix batch file from cd [servicemix_install_dir]\bin I
get a FileNotFoundException for the \lib\optional directory (see attachment).
When I add the optional directory from servicemix-1.0-M1 servicemix does start
up.
